Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust: Electronic Healthcare Tools

Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust has a variety of projects up and running to provide patients and staff with the ultimate e-Health environment, from electronic prescribing system to the provision of electronic discharge summaries.

As described in the 2012/2013 Quality Account, the Trust is currently developing a performance navigation tool, the Polaris Performance Navigator. The tool is currently being used as a basis for two key projects within the Trust. Firstly, it is being used to for the development of a performance dashboard, by combining clinical, activity, workforce and financial information to provide an overview of Trust performance. Secondly, the tool is being used in the configuration of a data warehouse called i-Health BI, which initially incorporates inpatient, outpatient and A&E data. The use of the Polaris Performance Navigator tool will help to accurately collect, store and display information, which can be used to track certain quality indicators within the Trust and improve the provision of health care.
